Brother MFC-J895DW Review– There is a tendency to the current white device, but the effect depends on the quality of the finish. And in this example, Matt’s plastic base is unfortunately reminiscent of a beige computer kit from yore. The more important selling point is very compact for the machine with scanning, copying, and faxing.
Brother MFC-J895DW is a reliable all-in-one wireless inkjet printer for home or small office use. The desk-friendly Printer has a 100-sheet tray, conveniently connected via a wireless network or a 2.0 high-speed USB interface, and prints crisp black and white documents up to 12PPM. Print from a compatible mobile device over your wireless network. Automatic duplex printing helps to save paper.
A small color touchscreen is set into the Black Control Panel on the front. The ink cartridges are replaced in a similar way to other models, but there is no guide to stop you from mixing colors, so the treatment will be necessary to avoid the charging-The-gasoline-car-with-diesel current. The paper feeding mechanism feels clunky.
The MFC-J895DW is not cheap, partly because it’s stocked exclusively by Amazon, so there’s a slight incentive for that discount. It’s not easy to find a feature that justifies prices. The quoted 12 pages per minute (ppm) print speed exactly matches our test results, although we have over 16ppm in draft mode.
That says a lot to honesty brother, but not much for the printer, which feels slower than the cheaper Epson Labor WF-3720DWF. The scanning and copying speeds are also too flat, and the automatic document feeder (ADF), which takes 20 thin pages, slows everything down.
We usually have no problem with Brother software, but this time the TWAIN driver refused to scan to our Windows software on one of our three PC tests, leaving us to resort to Brother’s own application. We hope it’s a bug that will get fixed.
Print quality is generally good, considering it is intended for office tasks more than photo printing, but deteriorating when using a duplex (both sides) option, and the scan tends to Blot out the dark areas.
By the time other printer makers listened to complaints about operational costs, Brother sold a ‘ High Yield ‘ cartridge for this model which was only the last 400 pages. The 3.6 p per black page or 12.6 p for color is more expensive than WF-3720DWF, which is expensive in any case.
